The detection above is only a convenience and stays in your browser — it is not stored or sent anywhere. Some browsers report the wrong system, so the manual list always stays visible.
Windows
Installer or portable build for 64-bit Windows.
solidcraft-0.16.2-windows-x64.msi · x64 · recommended
- The installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info → Run anyway. The official README says the same.
- The portable .zip contains solidcraft.exe, solidcraft-cli.exe and the licence files.
After download
- Run the .msi and follow the installer. The .zip and plain .exe builds just need to be unpacked or placed in a folder.
- If SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”, choose More info → Run anyway. The installers are not code-signed yet.
- The CLI lands next to the app (solidcraft-cli.exe). Open a terminal and run solidcraft-cli --help to check it.

One universal disk image for Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
solidcraft-0.16.2-macos-universal.dmg · universal · macOS 11 or newer
- The app is ad-hoc signed but not notarized. On first launch, right-click SolidCraft.app → Open (or allow it under System Settings → Privacy & Security). This is the official project's current state, not something this guide can fix.
- Drag SolidCraft.app onto Applications. The CLI is included inside the app bundle.
After download
- Open the .dmg and drag SolidCraft.app onto Applications.
- The first launch needs right-click (or Control-click) → Open, then confirm. The app is ad-hoc signed but not notarized, so a plain double-click is blocked by Gatekeeper.
- If macOS still refuses, check System Settings → Privacy & Security for an “Open Anyway” button.

Linux
AppImage, distro packages or a plain tarball for x86_64 and aarch64.
solidcraft-0.16.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage · x86_64 · recommended
- The official packages are built on Ubuntu 22.04 (glibc 2.35), so they run on that or newer distributions.
- For the AppImage: make it executable (chmod +x), then run it. The first launch adds a menu entry under ~/.local/share.
- Flatpak and Snap are also published through their stores: Flatpak via the project's own remote at docs.solidcraft.io/flatpak, Snap as “solidcraft” in the Snap Store.
After download
- AppImage: make it executable (chmod +x solidcraft-*.AppImage) and run it. The first launch adds a menu entry.
- Debian/Ubuntu/Mint: sudo apt install ./solidcraft-*.deb. Fedora/RHEL/openSUSE: sudo dnf install ./solidcraft-*.rpm.
- Flatpak and Snap are also published through their stores; the project documents a Flatpak remote at docs.solidcraft.io/flatpak.

Browser
Run the same app without installing anything.
docs.solidcraft.io/app/ · no install · WebGL2
- The web app needs HTTPS or localhost for browser storage. It works best in a current Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
- Designs live in this browser's private storage (OPFS), not in your Downloads folder. Clearing site data removes them, so download copies you care about. The desktop app saves ordinary files instead.
- After the first visit the app works offline: the browser keeps a copy of the build.
After download
- Open the official web app — it runs the same program compiled to WebAssembly, with no install.
- Designs are stored inside this browser profile (OPFS). Use File → Save As… and the Files panel's Download row to keep a .solidcraft copy outside the browser.
- If WebGPU is unavailable or misbehaves, open the ?webgl variant, which forces the WebGL2 renderer.

solidcraft-0.16.2-freebsd-x86_64.tar.gz · x86_64
- Self-hosting: the project also publishes a container image, ghcr.io/tangency-labs/solidcraft-web, with tags latest and the version number.
After download
- FreeBSD: unpack the tarball and run the binaries; the FHS tree matches the Linux tarball.
- Self-hosting: the web bundle is a static site, and the project publishes a container image at ghcr.io/tangency-labs/solidcraft-web.
- Building from source: clone the repository and follow the README's build instructions for Rust and the frontend.

The release includes a SHA256SUMS.txt covering every asset. Comparing one hash takes a few seconds and is the only way to be sure the file arrived intact.

Why the warnings appear
The official installers are not code-signed yet. Windows SmartScreen and macOS Gatekeeper therefore ask for a manual confirmation. That is expected for this project today — not a sign that a link on this page is wrong.
Newer than this page?
If the release page shows a newer stable tag, trust the release page. This guide’s file names are pinned to v0.16.2; the latest release always lists the current one.
Updating from 0.11–0.14
Those builds only accept update packages from the project’s old GitHub address (github.com/bherbruck/solidcraft). After the repository moved, they can see a newer release but cannot install it. Fix: uninstall and install 0.15.0 or newer once by hand; from then on the built-in updater works again.
Prerelease builds
GitHub also carries nightly prereleases, for example v0.15.0-nightly.20261018.51.1. They are not marked as stable and are not what this guide tested. Use them only to try unreleased fixes, and read the release notes first.
What we verified, and what we did not
This guide only states what it could check. The list below is the full picture for this page, including the gaps.
| Release and version | v0.16.2 exists on GitHub Releases and is the newest stable tag (published 2026-10-19T02:03:01Z). |
|---|---|
| Asset list | Every file name below was read from the official release assets and cross-checked against the project's packaging scripts. |
| Web app | GUI tested on 19 October 2026 in the official web app at docs.solidcraft.io/app/ (reports version 0.16.2). |
| Desktop installers | Not executed: this machine is macOS 12.7.6, and no Windows or Linux machine was used. File names and architectures come from the official release metadata, not from a local install. |
| Code signing | Unsigned/ad-hoc per the official README. We did not run SmartScreen or Gatekeeper ourselves. |
| Checksums | SHA256SUMS.txt exists in the release. We have not downloaded every asset to re-hash it locally. |
